Biomechatronics is a biomedical system that implies the application of mechanical and electronics engineering to human biology. In the field of biomedical, it is a stepping stone.
Human body which consist complexity is very much difficult to understand and study. So, it is necessary to introduce suitable techniques that can enhance human strength and health.
Biomechatronics is a system that is very helpful in case of patients affected by trauma and birth defects. It consists of assisting components for human muscles, bones and nervous system. So, the system is mainly a merge of biology, electronics and mechanics. Motor center in human brain is responsible for all physical and mental activities. In the body, messages for any physical movement are conveyed through impulses, which are produced by the nervous system. For a foot movement motor center will produce an impulse to the foot muscles. Once the impulse reach foot muscles, muscle will contract and lift the foot. It is a sequential action which occurs very fast. If there is a case, where motor system of the brain does not work properly, that patient becomes incapable to move and become partially paralyze. In this situation, biomechatronics system does the same function of the motor center in the brain artificially.
The system/device has two sensors: – Biosensors and mechanical sensors. Function of biosensor is to regulate muscular movement and control nervous system. Its placement can be inside or outside of the system. Transmission of information about biomechatronics system to the biosensor is the special function of mechanical sensors. The system also plays an important role in respiratory, cardiovascular and nervous system.
A biomechatronics system includes stimulus, transducers, sensors, signal processing elements, recording, and display and feedback components. Stimulus also called actuation is the electrical stimulus that can give as feedback. Transducers and sensors senses body signal and convert the electrical signals into some other form such as analog to digital conversion. Signal processors function is similar to transducers and that will amplify the electrical signals into suitable forms easy to identify. Signal processors sent the modified signals to the record and display sections for the analysis of physiological movements. Mainly Biomechatronics is the method to implement prosthetics in human body for support or function as an original body part. It is a merge of machine to human body. Prosthetics are different types. They are limp prosthetics, retina prosthetics, optic nerve prosthetics and so on.
